We do not currently have any Wilderness First Responder Courses scheduled for fall 2023. However, checkout our affiliates below to see their course schedule.

All students who receive certifications from Utah State University or Desert Mountain Medicine will still be eligible for DMM’s online continuing education portal in addition to Backcountry Ready’s Scenario Practice Sessions.

WFR Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Our Wilderness First Responder Courses are 80 hrs in total length. The first 30 hours are on-line in a self-paced format. The remaining 50 hours are in person, in accordance with WMEC guidelines.

    • Wilderness First Responder - 3 years

    • Wilderness CPR - 3 years

    • Wilderness Anaphylaxis Training - 2 years

  • If you have a group of 10 or more, inquire about setting up a private WFR course for your group. Class scheduling can be configured based on your group’s needs. Email Becky for more information:

  • Unfortunately, you must be in attendance for the entire course in order to receive a WFR certification. If you have to miss part of the course for any reason, you may still receive a Wilderness Advanced First Aid (WAFA) or Wilderness First Aid (WFA) certification instead.
